“I’m so lucky to have had Desola as my doula. She is so compassionate and sweet mannered. I met Desola over a zoom meeting late in my pregnancy at 36 weeks. “I had my first child 2007. Being my first pregnancy, I had fears and anxieties. Ms. Desola Amos was an answer to my prayers. She helped to ease my my fears and anxieties. She explained the process of child bearing and what I should expect during labor.
I knew I was in safe hands because she poured herself into ensuring that I was well taken care of. Her focus was not only my well being, she also ensured my husband knew how to support me. She was very friendly with the doctors and nurses. Although we arrived at the hospital around 4.30 pm, I had my baby at 1.29am the next day. Ms. Desola was there all through those long period of labor. Her comforting words and caring hands are second to none. She made sure I felt comfortable during labor and delivery of my first baby!
When the baby was not latching properly and I had breast engorgement, she taught me what to do. She also took care of the baby!

“14 yrs ago in 2007, I met Desola when I moved to the US with my husband and 2 yr old daughter. Desola and I were co-workers and she was instrumental in helping me understand a new culture. My daughter's birth was not in the US and particularly difficult without any pain medication/Epidural... so you can imagine how that went - but the best of it all - both baby and I did great. In 2008 I was ready to give birth to my son. I was nervous, did not know what to expect in terms of process, and was a little worried since we had no family here to help. I was so grateful when Desola came to the hospital at 10 pm knowing that I needed both help and support. I cannot tell you what a blessing she was and still is. She talked with me, calmed me down, encouraged me, and was with me the whole time. Knowing that she was by my side was the biggest help I needed. My son's birth was the most beautiful experience - the doctors, nurses were great but my biggest support and strength was Desola. That was more than 13 yrs ago when I did not even know the purpose and role of a Doula. Now 13 yrs later when Desola told me she is a Doula, I knew that it was meant to be. “Desola was God-sent to our family while we were all anxiously waiting for our grandbaby to arrive. My daughter and son-in-law, being first-time parents, weren’t sure what to expect. “We have nothing but the highest regard and recommendation for our dear Desola. I’m finding it hard to find the words that will do justice to her service to our birth experience. We were looking for a doula quite late in our pregnancy and came across Desola. In the very first conversation, We had a strong hunch to work with her. What helped us decide is that she listened. She listened, asked questions and understood our birth philosophy without judgment. She understood why I needed a doula, what my desires were about my birth experience and came ready with a plan in all our subsequent interactions. Any time I had questions, Desola would research articles and papers, curate them and then send the most relevant and informative ones. As our birth philosophy evolved, Desola quickly adapted to it. Eventually, we decided that a natural birth without the use of epidural was the way for us.
Her personality is warm, friendly, energetic but at the same time extremely professional. Her style is not prescriptive and does not work in a checklist fashion. She listens, is flexible, responsive, and very customized to our needs and desires. She structured my last few weeks such that my pregnancy progressed amazingly well. I felt energized with the exercises she gave me and that made me confident that my birth story will be awesome. And it was! When the day arrived, Desola was irreplaceable. I will actually say that I could not have given birth the way I wanted to without her by my side. She was constantly by my side, lived every moment of pain (sometimes extreme) with me, holding my hand, soothing me, guiding my husband and taking care of our every need and at the same time ensuring that I was progressing well. She created a soothing environment in the labour room. She connected very well with our nurse and together they made a dream team. I felt like I was in the best hands possible.
There is so much more to Desola than I can express. She is more than a doula to our family.”
